Etihad Airways Baggage Allowance

Passengers traveling with Etihad Airways are welcome to bring the following:

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

Each passenger may bring one cabin bag with a maximum weight of 7 kg (15 lbs) in Economy Class. The bag must not exceed 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm.

Passengers in Business and First Class may carry two cabin bags with a combined weight of up to 12 kg, subject to the same size restrictions.

In addition, passengers may bring one personal item such as a handbag, laptop bag, or small backpack that fits under the seat in front. Infant passengers are permitted one carry-on item for essential use during the flight.

All carry-on baggage must comply with aviation safety and security regulations. Items exceeding limits must be checked into the hold and may incur additional charges.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Checked baggage allowances are based on weight or piece concept depending on the route:

• Economy Class: 20 kg to 35 kg total checked baggage, depending on fare type
• Business Class: Up to 40 kg total checked baggage
• First Class: Up to 50 kg total checked baggage

On routes applying the piece concept:

• Economy Class: 2 pieces, each up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
• Business Class: 2 pieces, each up to 32 kg (70 lbs)
• First Class: 2 pieces, each up to 32 kg (70 lbs)

Each checked bag must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches) in total linear dimensions.

The maximum weight per individual bag is 32 kg. Items exceeding this weight must be repacked.

To avoid additional fees, passengers must ensure baggage remains within the permitted allowance. Excess baggage is accepted only if space is available.

Extra Baggage

Excess baggage charges apply when weight, size, or number of pieces exceeds the allowance. Charges are calculated based on route and excess weight.

Additional baggage allowance may be purchased in advance through Etihad Airways’ website or customer service. Advance purchase rates are lower than airport charges.

Special items such as sports equipment and musical instruments are accepted under specific conditions and may incur additional fees.
