Baggage Guidelines at Japanese Airports

Baggage policies may vary among airlines, so passengers are advised to check
directly with their airline for specific rules, especially if their luggage
is near the allowed limits.
General Rules
Carry-on baggage should not exceed 55 cm (22 in) x 40 cm (16 in) x 20 cm (8
in) and a total weight of 8 kg. Children receive the same cabin baggage
allowance as adults.
Infants traveling without a seat may bring a carrycot or fully collapsible
stroller, which can be carried in the cabin if space permits or checked in
otherwise. Oversized cabin baggage will not be accepted in the cabin and
must be checked.
In addition to one cabin bag, passengers may bring one personal item, such
as:
•
Handbag, coat, or wrap
•
Small camera or binoculars
•
Reading material
•
Infant food or baby basket
•
Collapsible wheelchair or walking aid
•
Umbrella, medicines, or laptop
Under ICAO regulations, liquids, gels, and aerosols exceeding 100 ml are
prohibited in hand baggage, except prescribed medicines and baby food, all
of which must be packed in a 1-litre clear resealable plastic bag for
screening.
For a comfortable journey, place most items in checked baggage and carry
valuables or essentials in your hand luggage. Baggage policy may differ by airline
and airports in Japan, so it is recommended
to confirm details with your airline representative or ground handling
agent prior to your flight.
