If you've lost an item during your Lufthansa flight or at the airport, Lufthansa is here to help. The Lost and Found service ensures you can easily report and recover your lost belongings.
Follow these steps to report and recover your lost items.
Delayed Baggage
If your baggage is delayed, report it quickly with Lufthansa:
Report Delayed Baggage: If your baggage is delayed, report it immediately online or at the Lufthansa baggage tracing desk at the airport. You'll need to provide your flight details and baggage description.
Check the Status Online: Once reported, you can track the status of your baggage online using the reference number (PIR). You can also subscribe to baggage status updates to receive notifications directly via email.
Baggage Tracing and Forwarding: Lufthansa’s baggage tracing team will immediately begin searching for your baggage. If found, it will be forwarded to your destination airport.
Delivery or Collection: Upon arrival at your destination, Lufthansa will clear customs and process your baggage for delivery. You’ll receive instructions on whether it will be delivered to your provided address or if you need to collect it from the airport. Be sure to wait for the notification before heading to the airport.
Compensation for Delayed Baggage
If your baggage is delayed and you need to purchase essential items like toiletries or clothing, you can submit receipts for reimbursement. Lufthansa recommends keeping the costs as low as possible.
Damaged Baggage
If your baggage is damaged while flying with Lufthansa, here’s what to do:
Report Damaged Baggage: Report it immediately to Lufthansa online or at the baggage tracing desk. You’ll receive a reference number for tracking.
Submit a Damage Report: For damages noticed within three days of your flight, submit a report online. If the damage is discovered after that period, you must report it within seven days.
Compensation Options: Lufthansa, through its service provider Dolfi1920 GmbH, will assess the damage. Depending on the extent of the damage, your bag may be repaired, replaced, or compensated at its current value.
Receive Feedback: After processing your claim, Dolfi1920 GmbH will contact you regarding compensation options.
Lost Property
