Tokyo Haneda International Airport (IATA: HND, ICAO: RJTT) is Japan’s
busiest and most important airport, located about 15 km south of central
Tokyo in Ōta Ward. Renowned for its efficiency, cleanliness, and
punctuality, Haneda serves as a major domestic hub and an increasingly
significant international gateway.
Facilities
Haneda consists of three main terminals — Terminal 1 (domestic, Japan
Airlines), Terminal 2 (domestic and select ANA international flights), and
Terminal 3 (international). The terminals are connected by a free shuttle
bus and underground walkway. Facilities include a vast array of restaurants,
cafés, duty-free shops, airline lounges, capsule hotels, and relaxation
areas. Other services include free Wi-Fi, ATMs, currency exchange counters,
baggage delivery, and multilingual assistance. The rooftop observation decks
in each terminal offer panoramic views of aircraft and Tokyo Bay.
Airlines and Destinations
Haneda is a key hub for
All
Nippon Airways (ANA) and
Japan Airlines (JAL),
offering extensive domestic connections and international flights to cities
across Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Major global
carriers such as Singapore Airlines,
Emirates,
British Airways, and
Delta
Air Lines also operate from Haneda.
Public Transportation
The airport is directly connected to central Tokyo via the Tokyo Monorail
(to Hamamatsuchō Station) and the Keikyū Line (to Shinagawa and Yokohama).
Limousine buses, taxis, and car rentals are also available. Its short travel
time to downtown Tokyo (around 20 minutes) makes Haneda one of the most
convenient major airports in the world.
